CERT-In urges iPhone and iPad users to update to latest software to patch ‘high severity’ vulnerabilities. If you are an iPhone or an iPad user, then it’s possibly the best time to update to the latest iOS and iPadOS 18, as the Centre-backed Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a high-risk severity rating.
CERT-In said it has found multiple vulnerabilities on iPhones, iPads, and Macs, urging users to update to the latest software.
According to the agency, iPhones and iPads running on versions before iOS and iPadOS 18 and Macs running on versions prior to macOS 14.7 are vulnerable to hacks, including the ability for cyber frauds to steal sensitive information, bypass security restrictions and authentication, and engage in cross-site scripting.
For users who have an iPhone or an iPad that is older and is not eligible for the iOS and iPadOS 18 update, the agency recommends updating to the iOS 17.7 and iPadOS 17.7 update, which was also released just a few days ago.
By updating to iOS 18, iPhones will also get new features and capabilities, including new customisation features, an improved control centre, the ability to lock apps using Face ID, and with a future update, eligible iPhones and iPads will also gain Apple Intelligence.
CERT-In had also recommended Vision Pro, Apple TV, Apple Watch, and even Safari users to update to the latest versions of software.
