C1DCC & C1DCCA Free Workshops In The Volta Region

Cyber1Defense Communication LTD and Cyber1Defense Communication Charity Africa went on a five-day educational program in the Volta Region to promote cybersecurity awareness and how they can be safe in the cyber space. The journey to the Volta Region was part of their mission to bring cybersecurity awareness to people in Ghana, mostly in rural communities. The program was aim at educating students on cybersecurity safety and related issues while also providing free laptops to enhance their learning experience. The event takes place in several key locations, including Anloga, Ho, and Kpando.

Program Overview

The initiative was inspired by the organization’s commitment to fostering a safer digital environment for youth. Moreover, with the increasing reliance on technology in education, it has become imperative to equip students with the necessary knowledge and tools to navigate the digital world securely.

Locations and Activities

Anloga

In Anloga, the program kicked off at the Anloga Technical Institute (ANTECH) with an engaging seminar on the basics of cyber security. Students learned about the importance of strong passwords, recognizing phishing attempts, and the significance of privacy settings on social media platforms. The seminar included interactive sessions where students could ask questions and participate in discussions. Some students receive free laptops.

Ho

The event in Ho featured workshops that provided hands-on training on various cyber security practices. Additionally, students were taught how to secure their personal information online, as well as the potential risks associated with internet usage. Additionally, some students receive free laptops.

Kpando

The program finished off in Kpando and saw students of schools from Sovie Kudza MA JHS, Kpando Konda M/A Basic School, Kids College Premier Int School, Missahoe Montessori School, Kpando Godza M/A JHS, and Domum Dei Prep JHS all there in their numbers to learn. In Kpando the focus was on the ethical use of technology. The sessions highlighted the responsibilities that come with internet access and the ethical considerations of online behavior. The organizers stressed the importance of using technology for positive purposes and avoiding activities like cyberbullying and hacking. Some students receive free laptops.

Impact and Feedback

The response from students and educators was overwhelmingly positive. Moreover, many expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn about such a critical topic and the generous donation of laptops. Furthermore, educators noted the importance of the program in preparing students for the challenges of the digital age.

Conclusion

The charitable event by the C1DC and C1DCCA in the Volta Region marked a significant step towards empowering the youth with essential cyber security knowledge and resources. By reaching out to students in Anloga, Ho, and Kpando, the organization has made a lasting impact on the community, promoting safer internet practices and enhancing educational opportunities through technology. In total, 15 schools benefited from the program, with 75 laptops given out for free to some students. This is one of the many cybersecurity and advocacy programs the management of C1DC and C1DCCA have set their sight on for this year. The vision still remains the same: going to the disadvantageous communities in Ghana to spread cybersecurity awareness and help them embrace technology in this digital world.
